Is it better to hold or flick the right trigger for denials?

I’m trying to experiment and I’ve found flicking works better but I’m not sure if it’s placebo affect thoughts or opinions? Struggle with my denials son crucifix and rubberguard I one hundred percent deny the right way sometimes still no denial

Re: Is it better to hold or flick the right trigger for denials?

I find it depends on what I'm doing. I'll often have R2 held down all the time on the ground and I tend to predict the next transition so I'm not flicking.

However, things that require quicker inputs, I'll flick - from dominant sprawl, if they transition up to over/under, I'll flick with L2 +R2 for the guillotine reversal.

In practice mode, I noticed that if you try submission or counter throw when they go for the take-down, flicking doesn't seem to work. I have to press and hold until it's registered for the sub or throw to be successful.

3 games in and the grappling still hasn't clicked for me. I can't wait to see what they do to change it in the next game.

Flicking 1,000,000%. Couldn't imagine how holding the stick would work against a high level grappler, or even anyone who uses fakes.

To be good at denials it's best to be light at your inputs , try to be fluid with your thumb on the analog, so that you react quick enough to transitions. Predict and flick or react and flick.Holding the stick is a bad idea

I didn't read the thread title right lol...i thought you meant just the analog stick...I hold RT most of the time when when going for denials and it works for me pretty well for me.
