Takedown feints

A know many people have expressed the desire for this aspect to help improve the grappling and takedown game. I was just playing as TJ Dillashaw (on PS4) and when you hold L1 and move the right stick forward instead of doing a movement he does what looks like a movement feint but could easily be a takedown feint. My suggestion is to assign the L1/LB and move forward as a takedown feint. So if you use L2/Left trigger you can do the actual takedown but holding L1/LB instead does a feint

Dominick Cruz's signature crouch (L1 + LS forward) is very similar. I really like it, and wish more fighters had it. Especially Frankie Edgar, who's all about level changes and the threat of level changes.

I didn't even know about that, I should check it out.

Yup! I’m fighting against him and it throws me off sometimes. It would be a nice addition for those fighters just that added ability to fake the takedown. Especially since the motion is kinda there (since Cruz and TJ kinda have it). And would add a great layer to the grappling game

Takedown feints would be excellent, level changes are an enormous part of MMA.

There were takedown feints in UFC 2 right?

At this point knowing next patch will be minor I’d say this is the last piece that we can hope for.

They were, I used to use them all the time.

I think they must have been taken out though due to the increased damage/ vulnerability in this game. When someone used to bite on a TD feint in UFC 2 it would leave their head exposed allowing for a strike to be landed I believe.

If in UFC 3 biting on a TD feint meant leaving the head exposed for a free strike it'd be easy to win fights by feinting a TD into a head kick or flying knee where-as those strikes didn't do as much damage in UFC 2 so it wasn't as much of an issue.

I believe it'd be unbalanced if the same parameters were taken from UFC 2 and put into UFC 3 that's why it wasn't included initially. That's my thoughts on it anyway.

Though, if some time went into balancing for the new game it could definitely work I think and I'd love to see them return.
