And a lot of wrestlers tend to catch the knee when they're up against the fence and convert it into a TD. Except for Chad Mendes against Aldo in their first fight, poor soul.
I think an 87 TD offense should be required to catch knees.

I just don't like that people tend to immediately block low-high after every combo so they can catch whatever punish is coming, or just in general.

Also, is it just me, or is the Regular straight's stopping power inconsistent now ever since they removed it from the empty slip straight (like they were supposed to)

I've thrown straights versus another persons combination that starts with a jab and they are able to power through like nothing happened.

I do like the minor lunge backwards in order to be able to catch the kick, that makes a lot of sense, having enough space and time to see it coming.
You're very correct about the knee catch. I don't even know why I claimed it doesn't happen. Mendes caught Conors knee and took him down from it.

I guess I felt that way because it just looks so weird and off in the game it made me feel it was unnatural.... Plus it's not exactly a kickboxing Tactic.

I agree with only wrestlers of a certain caliber being able to do it. As for the straight... Yeah.. I've noticed that too. Not enough to be able to consistently reproduce it but there's definitely something up with it.

Set them up how you like. If your opponent is using haptic feedback it makes no difference.

Re: The body kick catch is killing this game

Also as MartialMind said catching a spinning body kick!? Yeah good luck with that in real life. The whole concept of it is broken. In game if they catch the kick it doesn’t deal any damage. If you catch a kick in real life it still hits you full force. At the very least you should still deal out some damage.

It also wouldn’t be so bad if they didn’t get a free head shot which rocks you 90% of the time. An idea for balancing them out would be;

1. Significantly reduce the damage of the free head shot
2. Make it so you have to time it like a parry in UFC2. No spamming high/low block every 0.02 seconds
3. The kick should still deal a out reduced amount of damage
4. Make the regular low block more powerful
5. Not be to able catch spinning kicks

They did reduce the damage for the head shot, and you can block those shots.

Definitely agree with #2.

You should take some block damage catching spin kicks.

My game must be broke. I NEVER block the head shot despite holding R2. 90% of the time it rocks me too.

i half agree with what you say but for it to stay the way it is will hurt the game for more people than just the top 50 so we cant compare the skills of the best to the rest if your looking to make the game better.

i think lower level players abuse the kick way to much in this game i see guys employing it in about 80% of their combos at times. it shouldn't be up to me to catch their kick 3 times a round to counter it the game should incent the player to use the kick wisely like the higher level players do and fighters irl do.
the kick should feel like a BAZOOKA! BAM!! and i should know i cant throw 30 of these a round. right now the game wants players to use them as a high low guessing game which has lead to a kick being used to much and the punish for when it does get caught being op. its almost like its unbalanced on both ends, for the kicker and the defender.
i dont think its fine as it is.

Lol, same.

In regard to the thread itself, I've been on record saying how much I dislike how easy the catch mechanic is. I'm not against the technique at all, and it's in a little better shape now, but it's entirely too easy to pull off.

Re: The body kick catch is killing this game

I agree with Martial on Knee catches.

Outside of the clinch I've never seen a knee caught, and I'm strugging to think of a clinch body knee catch even (that lead to anything significant)

Usually its an overextended high knee from a cage clinch postition and they get caught and scooped, or a flying knee.

Not saying it hasn't happened, just that I've literally never seen it, specifically a straight up knee from striking range, not clinched.

Also, is it common knowledge you can deny kick catch TDs??

I discovered this the other day and was pretty surprised you could do it and that I'd never seen it mentioned.

It seems counterintuitive. The TD can be completely denied/negated but the strike can't?
