Lunging Jab/Straight

Ok lets talk about the new "Lunging Jab & Straight" punches added in the recent patch

How are you guys feeling about this technique?

I need help with this 1 tbh. I can't seem to find any way to use it effectively. I'm either to far out and I miss with it, or I'm too close and nothing happens?

So is it just me? If you guys are managing to get some use out of it, where and how are you incorporating it into your game?

I was hoping for a dashing Jab like we could do in UFC 2 but this is a bit different, and Im not sure what to do with it.

Re: Lunging Jab/Straight

I have yet to add it to my game tbh. There's so many things to work on such as properly lunging, using the push mechanic (rather than throwing an accidental knee).

Yeah, i've found no use for it at all. For one the input for it has to be timed perfectly, it's pretty slow, and it doesn't really cover much distance. Just a walking forward jab is much more effective. I would rather have the animation be similar to the step in jab that Frankie Edgar had in UD3, that animation would be useful to use if timed properly, and wouldn't be OP because of the pivots and lunges.

i don't even use it, that lunging straight is ugly and just doesn't really seem to be worth it.

I love the animations for them. This is how I've been practicing it. You gotta bob and weave into it, or slip then minor lunge after. It gives you a tiny bit of range for when you're too far off. The amount of movement you can chain now is unreal.

Re: Lunging Jab/Straight

its pretty much useless, needs to cover abit more distance or pack abit more power.

Re: Lunging Jab/Straight

The range is kinda funky for sure, but it's very similar to Cruz jab actually. I use Cruz a good amount at BW, so I was kinda adjusted to the range already. It's best used against advancing opponents (works well against pressure fighters) so until you've adjusted to the range, it's better to use it when the opponent is advancing on you. Then once you get the range down you can use it more freely. That said, I do feel they could increase the range it can be used from a bit more. Like a little closer to the opponent.
