Re: How's your ML going?
Re: How's your ML going?
Started one with Chelsea and currently we're sitting atop the table after 5. We won our first 3 and then tied away to Villa. I totally got my backline wrong. I went with Alex and he was outpaced constantly by Gabby.
After drawing we headed to Russia where we ran into an on-form Zenit squad in the CL. They ripped us 4-1 and i started to sense a little bit of pressure from the Chairman. After that, we headed to Goodison Park to face the Toffees and quickly found ourselves down 1-0 off a goal by Anichebe. We regrouped at HT and equalized shortly after the break off a laser by Lampard. He got a little bit of space, turned onto his right foot and unleashed one that Howard had no chance of getting to. Things got a little hectic towards the end and I subbed of an ineffective Sturridge for Drogba as well as swapped Essien for Mikel in an attempt to steal some points. Well, it worked. In stoppage time, Essien out-hustled Cahill to win a 50-50 header to Cole. Cole played it center to Mierles who found Drogs on the right-hand fring of the box. Drogba used his strength to hold off Baines and fired in a low cross that Mierles tapped into the net after holding off Distin. A 93rd minute dagger had me fist-pumping this morning before work. A quick change of tactics to all defensive and a hoof down the pitch by Drogba and the points were ours. The Chairman loved my tactical switch after the match.
Using a squad like Chelsea forces me to juggle my lineup. Players who get left out are quick to call for a meeting. -

This is what worried me in FIFA 12 using Chelsea but the system works quite well. KG, would you say a lot of players are giving your trouble and dropping form/morale because they don't make the starting 11 every game?Comment

Yeah but to be honest, it's very realistic and I like it. I have to juggle lineups based off form, who I'm playing, are they currently mad, etc...Comment

Sounds interesting. Does the AI factor players you bring of the bench as games played?
I remember last year I kept having to deal with an unhappy Ronaldinho despite him playing many games. The only games he sat was games he wasn't fit to play but he complained despite this.Comment

Re: How's your ML going?
That is some interesting stuff to hear. I am on the fence about getting 2012...thanks for the assessments.
my 2011 ML was wrecked...two guys (one who i intended to be the CMF for years to come) were denied transfers and have been in the poorest form ever since. I have at least 9 internationals...I played one game with 15 players in purple or blue form. At least 2 with 10 or more.
I learned a lot about the game from the experience, however, as I started playing more behind the ball and getting some great counters. We seemed to have slogged thru the bad form, and a brief injury to Torres, and are back to "normal." Sitting 3rd in Germany, three off the lead. In semis of the tourney, but knocked out of Europa by Fiorentina on away goals.
Those two midfielders are still pouting though. jerks.Australian Rules Football...just sayin'Comment

Since I've become disenchanted with BAL, in ML, no matter what team you pick you start in D2?'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.'-Bill ShanklyComment

If you want to start in D1 with real players you have to unlock the option by buying it. If you start with default players you start in d2 either way I belive.Comment

Re: How's your ML going?
The goal totals in my ML are...interesting.
The goals/match for The Prem, Serie A, La Liga, and Lique 1 are pretty much the same...
Ideally, Italy would have lower scores by a good margin. Aside from the two giants, Spain's g/m are quite low, too.
Ibra has banged in 31 with Milan wow
35 from 37 games for Higuain
but the Bundesliga has an incredibly low g/m...as does Eredivisie...and IRL both leagues score in buckets, especially compared to Italy.
It doesn't seem playing styles/strategies or whatever make it into the sim engine...Australian Rules Football...just sayin'Comment

Starting a new ML after installing the PESEDIT patch
Gonna start with the default players (fictional) as Blackburn Rovers.
I'm assuming that I'll start in the second league. Does anyone know if it will be in the NPower Championship?Comment

If the patch includes the Npower teams then you have to go into edit mode and edit D2 to have those teams in there.Comment

Re: How's your ML going?
Time for a proper update:
Novermber 23rd, 2011
Roster:
We didn't make any moves in the transfer window although we put up Kalou & Anelka but didn't get any bids yet. We also put up Bertrand & McEachren for loan with Betrand attracting some outside attention but I'd like to loan both out to English sides. I didn't target anyone but I could use another young CB as Alex lacks pace. Offensively I've gone through periods where different players have played really well. Mata started out really well creating and Lampard was finishing. Then Malouda began to show his class until finally Drogba caught fire and banged home 5 goals in his last 5 appearances.
EPL:
Current Standings:
Arsenal - 11-1-2 - 34pts
Chelsea - 9-4-1 - 31pts
Man U - 10-0-4 - 30pts
Villa - 9-2-3 - 29pts
Liverpool - 28pts
Citeh - - 24pts
Jumped out to a 6-0-2 record before drawing away to Swansea, losing at home to Pool, and drawing away to Bolton. I got caught in a bit of a fixture pile-up with the FA Cup & Champions League. I was juggling my lineups and struggled to finish as my technique dipped. It doesn't get any easier as I'm away to Man United, home to Newcastle & Spurs, then away to City before finishing up with Arsenal at home before the winter break.
FA Cup:
Started out by throttling Coventry City 5-1 before dispatching Blackburn 3-1 behind a brace by Drogba. I've been playing mostly my youngsters (McEachren, Sturridge, Lukalu, Romeu, Bertrand) in the cup but I have Liverpool in Anfield coming up next. I'll probably do a mixture of youngsters + experience.
UEFA CL:
My group consists of Zenit St. Petersburg, Valencia, and Trabzonspor. Started out on the wrong foot as we got thrashed in Russia by Zenit 1-4 before beating Valencia at home 3-2. We then took out a bit of frustration on Trabszonspor 5-0, and then 3-0 to put us top of the table with 9pts and +6 GD. Valencia is also on 9pts but they are only +4 in GD. We have Zenit at home and a win puts us through or 2 draws in our last 2. I did manage a hat-trick with Torres in the last outing.
We need to win our next CL match so we can rest our experienced players for the crazy fixture run to wrap up the 1st half. My goal is to be top 3 at the break.Comment

Re: How's your ML going?
Re: How's your ML going?
So I decided this year to do something different then my Barca/Chelsea ML and decided on a Serie A team and who better then declining Inter? Unfortunately for me my virtual Inter and real Inter are mirror images of each other.
To start the season we brought in Neymar and immediately switched to a 4-2-3-1. I knew the first games would be a struggle to learn how to attack best and it was. At this point I panicked and switched to a 4-1-2-3 and despite getting some better results I didn't feel the team was playing to their potential. Just last game we switched back to the 4-2-3-1 with some minor tweaks by me which pushes the wingers up a little higher. This result netted a 3-1 win over Lecce which was a step in the right direction.
I tried to also bring into a better CF but failed with Eto'o, Tevez, and Balotelli,
Current Serie A rankings:
Palermo - 19 PTS
Juventus - 19 PTS
Lazio - 15 PTS
Roma - 15 PTS
Cesena - 15 PTS
Inter - 8 PTS
CL table (2 Games):
Napoli - 6 PTS
Inter - 3 PTS
SL Benfica - 3 PTS
CSKA Moskva- 0 PTS
Italian Cup:
Won the first round without any trouble.
I feel I've had some bad breaks and bad luck but I think the team is slowly coming into form. I'm still trying to get a better CF as I don't feel Milito or Pazzini are up to the task. Forlan has been a hit or miss. Still trying to get a fit and feel for Neymar. Sneijder at this point has been instrumental to our offense and at this point is untouchable.Last edited by Altimus; 11-11-2011, 06:18 PM.Comment
