Re: Ok im late I know The Wire

What's everyone's favorite seasons? Right now, I'm still torn between #3 and #4... the education storyline, the bodies in the vacants, and the kids arcs really captured my attention... but that epic conflict in S3 and the emergence of Marlo and the New Order really was the meat of the series in my view (new vs. old conflicts in every facet of the city). I'd have to go with Season 3 by a nose. They're all spectacular though... and Season 2 has really grown on me. Frank Sobotka might be the most involving character the show created... the end of that season is so amazing.

Agh, I hate that it's over. I'm just going to keep watching it over and over from the beginning I guess. Nothing will touch this show as far as I can tell... it'll always be #1 for me... and I don't even like cop dramas...

Originally, I liked 3 the best, but now, aside from 5, I think the other 4 are about equal. I'd probably go 4 then 2 then 3 then 1, but all 4 are 4 of my 5 favorite television seasons that I've seen.

I'll have to check it out. I don't think Oliver Street ever crosses North (they're kind of parallel). It is in the cut though. What's the link you got that from? I've never heard of Oliver St Station but I'm sure I can find it.

What's the other season? Which show?

And yeah, they're all essentially equal in my mind, though the acting in Season 1 was odd.. they definitely improved the characters and the feel of the show from the first few episodes. Kima and that hiedous-*** hat.. hah. The show got a whole lot more real and authentic-feeling at the end of Season 1 and into Season 2. So, I guess except for some shining moments in Season 1 (chess scene, Wallace, Bunk/McNutty's one-word crime scene investigation), that one would be my least favorite and the others are all tied, with #3 getting a slight nudge just because of Mouzone/Omar, String/Avon, and the Hampsterdam side-plot... and god damn epic #11 is the best episode of anything ever... that balcony scene still gives me chills.. "Us, man".

Man, I love this show. I wish "Heaven and Here" was still getting content, I can talk about (and read people talking about) this show forever...

EDIT: wwharton, the neighborhood is called 'Oliver' on the Yahoo Map... Here's where I got the picture: http://www.flickr.com/photos/theneig...abadoned_bmore

Now that I look, it says Station North Oliver St., so I'm not really sure what that means.. there's no North Oliver St. on the map (just East). But that location would make sense, given its proximity to the American Brewery building and many of the other backdrops that they used for Season 4. West of Gay St. would be my best guess as to the location -- here's a clip from the Yahoo Map with my guess:

And yeah, that's a rough-*** neighborhood... the crime map gets pretty dense in that area.. couple of murders nearby this year already.

Season 5 of The Shield.

Though Episode 12 of Season 1 of the Wire (where Wallace comes back) might be my favorite episode of the show. Pretty much everything in the first four seasons is great. Easily my favorite show.

If that's from flckr I bet it's still there. I doubt it was a prop for the show unless I'm missing some obvious reason to think so. I'll drive by there and see if I can find it. It's not too far from a few places I go out so I can just detour a bit.

Yeah, I assume it's actually there (might've been painted over ny now or something though -- like the "Bodymore, Murdaland" wall). I just think it's awesome that the city would leave up a set piece for the show. The date on the picture is Feb 8th of this year though, so it should be there.
