Not sure what to think about this one. Definitely didn't need to see Cloverfield at all to see this....it stood on its own. Goodman was very good as usual.
I liked it until the last 10 minutes or so. Goodman was fantastic.

See, I actually liked the last ten minutes the most. Up until that point, Goodman was the only redeeming part. Was very disappointed with this one after seeing the reviews/OS's reaction.

If you watched it the way I approached it, you might feel a bit different about the bulk of the film.

I'd have to see it again to connect things the way I did the first time, but I interpret the whole film a totally different way based on the first poster.

This is not one I'm looking to swipe on Blu-ray immediately, though..

Caught the new Captain America in theaters last Friday. Better than I expected. I need to go back and watch the second one though because I never did get a chance before.

See that's the thing - I knew what I was watching. I knew the main story, I knew that it wasn't a "monster movie" or anything like that. And yet when the monsters showed up? It was awesome to me.

I also just didn't care about the girl or the guy characters which clearly doesn't help.

Hmm, well there's that. There's also the theory I constructed that...

Also, rewatched Spotlight. Of course, not the same impact as the novelty of the elements and interactions were gone, but still a great ensemble performance. In retrospect, I don't think it should have won best picture, but then again it's Hollyweird and maybe they had their own agenda to pick it (film industry vs. God industry...who knows). Keaton was great. Some of his mannerisms reminded me of he amazing dramatic performance in "Clean & Sober".
