Samsung releasing a new TV that also works vertically so you can view cellphone videos "properly".

I hate when people record videos that way. If it's an "in the moment" video, you might just pull out your phone and quickly record. But if its something planned, why not hold it sideways? Even taking pics. Theres times it might require vertical, but most times horizontal is better.

As for that TV, it's not exactly anything special and I dont know why someone would pay hundreds for a TV like that. I've seen regular TVs just hung sideways in malls to display ads, but that's it.

This is something not that necessary and will end up being ignored/left behind in a year or something.

Re: LCD or OLED? - The TV Thread

On Sunday I picked up the new LG C9 (65 inch) for my gaming/theater room ($3499 minus $350 BB gift card). This television is a BEAST and easily the best anything that I have ever owned.

In 2017 I purchased an LG C7. I loved the OLED picture but gaming mode was way too dim and thus disappointing. We've been using that in our family room.
I went with a Sony 930E as an LED compromise between best movie picture/best gaming for my man cave. The new LG C9 means no more compromises.

If you have the money, I can't recommend the C9 highly enough.

I commend you for having the cash to go $3K for a 65" TV. Hopefully it comes with a happy ending.

Did they get rid of the ABL on the C9 OLEDs?. I mainly use my B7 for movies only now. I honestly see OLEDs going just like plasmas for the simple fact that in order to have the best possible HDR experience you need minimum 1000 nits and having TVs at high nits increases the chance of getting burn in on OLEDs.

Any reason you went with the C9 over Sony A9F?

Great question!

I'm not a fan of the tilted stand on the A9F. I know this is being corrected with the A9G but that isn't out yet (maybe May). Plus, I already knew that the I love the LG Oled picture. Early reviews are very complimentary about the C9's gaming capabilities to include a very low input lag (under 13 ms).

I have a samsung soundbar from years ago - the 'quality' of the sound is great, but even with all the settings the dialogue is hardest to understand and unless it's blasted (which it isn't) it's always a struggle when watching hollywood movies - not such much other things because the audio is just so much more 'flat'. Do you find that with the model you bought? It's almost like I want to RE-EQ the films because although a crash and bang or rumble is realistic to be 10x louder than people talking, it's just too drastic a difference at home for me.

If I were to purchase a new sound bar/system I'd look for something that really brings out the mids and highs especially when hearing male and female voices in dramatic films.
