Official Rock music thread

Saw a Rap/Hip Hop thread and a Country Music thread (two genres I'm not a fan of) but no rock music thread. Classic Rock, Punk, Ska, Metal, alternative, Indie, folk, basically anything with guitars/drums/bass that isn't country....

Some of my favorite bands of all-time are:

Nirvana
Foo Fighters
Our Lady Peace
Queens of the Stone Age
The Offspring
Weezer
Red Hot Chili Peppers
The Beatles

Although my taste in rock music is very extensive and my favorite bands can vary week to week/day to day depending on my mood. I have almost 30,000 songs on my computer/ipod hahaha. If I like one song by a band I'll download their entire discography.

what I'm listening to: http://www.last.fm/user/bd007h2

my album collection: http://rateyourmusic.com/collection/bd007h/oo

What are your favorite bands/singers/songs/etc.?

Gotta love CCR. My sister made a pretty good CCR Greatest Hits Mix CD a few years ago that I put on my computer. It has all their classic hits.

Re: Official Rock music thread

I'm slanted more towards alternative.

Weezer is great, but I'm starting to slide away from them. They still haven't nailed it since Pinkerton, but Hurley had some good sounds.

Here are some bands I've got in my list of songs to get:

Vampire Weekend
Matt and Kim (so much yes)
The Thermals
Cults
Anberlin
The Wombats
Passion Pit
Metric
She Wants Revenge
Foster the People
Freelance Whales
Manchester Orchestra
I'm From Barcelona
TV On The Radio
The Futureheads

At least that's what my current band rotation sounds like. I've also got a Last.fm.

Looks like bd and I have "SUPER" taste. Interesting, as I've never listened to 5 of his top 8 bands (last 12 months), lol.

Re: Official Rock music thread

I love Weezer. More so their first 4 or 5 albums though, although I thought Hurley was a surprisingly good album (not just because Hurley is my last name, either haha). My first CD was Weezer's Blue album. Got it for Christmas from my Sister in 1994 (I was 8).

Weezer's one of two artists I'd actually go buy the CD for.

The second is "Weird Al", because he's my homeboy.

Spoiler

Honestly, though, I've gotten pretty into Vampire Weekend, Matt and Kim, and The Wombats recently.
