I have a feeling if we're going to see heroes/villains it'll mainly be street level ones though I noticed Extremis named dropped as the cause of Michael's anger and the cause of the explosion at the beginning of the episode. Extremis is tied into Iron Man comics.

Re: Marvel: Agents of Shield

I pretty much didn't like it at all. Aside from Coulson all the characters were very generic and shallow. The tech guy was especially bad, not only the ticks, but if you are going to have someone spout technobabble you can't have the guy with an unintelligible accent doing it.

They didn't utilize anything Marvel. Aside from some set dressing, the show was generic.

I expected the show to be that blend of comedy, action, and solid story that is Whedon's thing, but the comedy was entirely too corny, the action was ****, and the story was gossamer.

Maybe I expected too much, they have a huge well of stories and characters to draw from, to fill in some of the things that just aren't big enough for a movie, but yet too big to gloss over, all in the trappings of a high end network production. What I got instead was shallow created for the movie universe characters, with very little Marvel lexicon, a brittle new plot, all wrapped in the trappings of a mediocre SyFy show.

I'll not give it up yet, but I was seriously bored and disappointed.

Yeah same here. It started off pretty slowly but got better as it went on.

So is Agent Coulson a LMD (Life Model Decoy)?

Just caught it and I'd say it was 6/10. Good enough to get me to tune in for the next couple of episodes. I agree with Burns in that they should utilize that Marvel chest instead of feeding us run-of-the-mill characters which could easily feature in similar shows.

I want to see Marvel's b-list/c-list characters, not made for TV nobody gives a **** about character (as of the moment, anyway).

I'm going to assume that he is. Seems to be what they hinted at.

Yeah, has to be considering some of the things he did like dodging the van door.

Watching this cheesy mess is the same thing that turned me off Iron Man 3. Certainly after watching Shield it made me sad Alphas was cancelled. I didn't think 90% of the jokes were funny and I'm not an hardcore marvel fan so I'll prob miss a ton of references.
