Re: Fargo (Season 3)

Season 4 starts production soon so we should see Chris Rock as a 1950's mob boss this year.

No, just no. I won't be able to take this seriously. There are so many better choices.

Not totally there with you but I wish they wouldn't use this show to debut a comedian's first dramatic role.

Re: Fargo (Season 3)

Anyone watch the first two episodes of Season 4 last night?

I DVR'd them (hate commercials). Watched episode 1. I'm not sure what to think... But there are some funny lines. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Saw ep. 1. At first I was concerned about the direction it was taking, then it seemed at times like a drawn out music video, then the plot twists came in.

Honestly, after seeing how the offspring exchange "worked" the first time, I didn't get the whole continuing with that tradition (and/or if that is a fictional account, which I assume it is).

I stand corrected about Rock. He was pretty serviceable jumping into the drama arena.

Re: Fargo (Season 3)

Chris Rock is ill-suited for this role. There is no way this will be a dramatic coming out party for him. He doesn't have the acting chops or gravitas to pull this role off in a convincing way.
Spoiler
.

Rock is in such a key role that could have been capably handled by several competent actors including any of the main unknown players on The Wire. There are still some things to like (The brother feud, the precocious girl, and the nurse) so I'll still watch and try some creative "Rock-filtering" along the way.

Season 4 will have to do a lot to de-throne season 1 as my favorite. Billy Bob was in top form for this one. It's such a shame to see his acting chops go to waste in seasons 2 and 3 of Goliath (on Amazon) for how good season 1 was there as well.
