I wasn't shocked it got renewed but was very surprised they re-upped it before the 11th episode.
It was a toss up, it is owned by Sony so it depended how much they wanted to make a deal. Network PR will always say it's going to be renewed no matter what is happening.

50% is owned by NBC Universal which gives it a financial incentive to keep it on air on NBC (per the article). The early renewal seems to support the "whispers" that Spader signed early and it was just a matter of the other regulars inking their deals to cement a season 7.

Of course, no one really knows what goes on behind the scenes.

Yeah no doubt they wanted it to continue, you just never know with the cost of a long running show and it on Friday. There have been some weird decisions lately that no one has predicted.

Glad it is staying, but need an interesting story as this season has been good and the ending looks intense.

So glad this got renewed, one of my favorite shows, Redd and Dembe are 2 of my favorite characters on TV. Elizabeth has gotten on my nerves a bid though lately but it's been really good. Can't wait to see how things go.

I like the way the team has softened toward Red.

Especially Aram, who has been consistently soft [towards Red] and has made the team well aware about that fact. For that matter, I love how direct Aram is about everything, and to everyone.

It showed a great contrast. As mentioned people have softened towards him and yet he is a killer.
