HELP: Game freezes when I go to in-game substitution screen

I'm having some problems here. I'm in my third year with San Diego, and in Week 4 (if any of that matters). Anyways, I'm trying to play a game, and every time that I try to go to the Substitution menu, the game freezes up. I thought that that was just a messup or something, so I try the game after that, and it still freezes!

Any idea why? It stinks too, because my punter right now is assigned to Matt Stover rather than Mike Scifres, and I need to change that!

Any help would... err... help.

My game has been freezing like crazy... when I draft a player, when I'm simulating through the week and it is seriously pissing me off. I'm pretty sure it's a corrupt save and I can't fix it without restarting my fantasy.

The in-game sub screen is broken. And the only real fix is a new roster. I've heard some people can stop the freezing by using custom playbooks, but I'd suggest loading a new roster, and not using in-game sub screen, period.

Just wanted to add that I caught this issue with the sub screen the first week the game was out. I ruined two rosters before figuring out the problem. I then loaded a new roster (my third) stayed away from ever using the in-game sub screen, and haven't had a problem since.

The franchise freezes are happening in part as a result of the CPU's inability to properly manage its depth charts, IMO. Players get stuck in double starting positions, and eventually the program freezes because it can't handle all the screwy information. ESPN/VC is calling that a "corrupt save file". And... what corrupted it, I wonder?

Okay. I don't understand what you mean by "Loading a new roster", because I'm in my franchise, and I don't know how I can do that. I do remember making some changes the week before (by changes I mean signing a WR and releasing a FB). However, I don't know what on Earth would have changed.

Oh well, I guess I'll work with it then.

It means starting your franchise over. The corruption is in the roster itself. Once you load/reset a new roster, you're back to square one. And as long as you don't use the in-game sub screen, the problem shouldn't return – mine hasn't, anyway. I do my subbing via custom playbooks, which doesn’t screw up the roster. You might try that.

I know what you’re going through, because my WR got stuck as my P and I always forgot to change him – yet another 15 yard punt! But I still could change him by subbing/switching several times. Eventually my P would show up, but it sometimes took a minute or so. With other players that got stuck, I could never stick the guy in I wanted, no matter what I tried.

I also found out that my starting TE is now out, and is now replaced by my rookie outside linebacker, Ismael McCarthy. ALSO, my DE is Doug Flutie!

It's pretty hard for me to restart it, because unlike some people on here, I play EVERY game (including all preseason and playoffs), I do weekly preparation every week, and now I have to just... DUMP it all. It's not right for me to restart, there has to be another way.
