EA Secures Rights to NFL

The sad fact is, the majority of people who buy/play Madden are casual gamers who probably won't even hear about this deal. Boycotting EA games won't put a big enough dent in EA's sales to make a difference. The casual gamers won't even care about this.

Actually....Sega and Take-Two are to blame for this deal. $20 games do not make money. The NFL looked at this and it made since for them to give EA an exclusive license, sell the games for $39-$49....and make more money. The NFL gets a percentage of sales revenue and their is more of it at $49 than $20. EA would have probably had to price Madden 2006 at $29-$35. This is a smart money move by the NFL. Im sure if this was reversed, The ESPN fans would thinks its great.

On a scarier note for these same publishers, rumors are already circulating that EA is attempting to negotiate similar deals with the NBA and Major League Baseball. When IGN contacted Trudy Muller, spokesperson for Electronic Arts about these rumors, she told us: "We cannot speculate at this time about any further plans these other leagues may have."



If this happens I'm going to go postal!!!!
