Madden fan feels bad for ESPN players

This news is sad, a complete joke.
I feel horrible for ESPN players.
While I prefer Madden, I always liked having ESPN around. It kept both games from getting stale.
I always bought a copy of ESPN. Felt it was good for competition.
Nothing good can come from this deal.
Imagine the horror, from a Madden fan's perspective, if ESPN had secured this exclusive deal?
I prefer the ESPN versions of NHL and NBA. What will happen if EA buys those rights too? (And I think it will happen).
A sad, sad day.

I enjoy both games as well although i suppose if i was forced to choose, i'd go with ESPN. I actually think Madden is the best of the EA Sports titles, but i will not buy an EA game until this ridiculous deal is finished.

NHL, NBA, and College Hoops are what really make me wonder...I think Madden and ESPN are both good football games, but I really don't like the EA basketball or hockey product. I don't think Take Two/Sega can really continue to kick out sports games w/o the NFL game as an anchor.

That's going to be the issue. I think they can do it initially, but how long they will be able to without that license is the question.

You should feel bad for Madden fans. Without any competition do you think EA will put much money toward pushing Madden each year to get better.

Get ready for 5 years of roster updates for $60 a year.

Agreed.
No competition is a bad thing for everybody.

NCAA by EA hasn't had any competition for years and they've added alot of things and improved it alot each year. Although I know some people see some "issues" with this years version it's pretty clear that EA hasn't rested on it's laurels and has tried to significantly add to it each year.

Exactly. This whole idea that EA will simply stop improving their games is a farce. If there's no improvment people will not buy them and jsut stick with the previous year's version. This is absurd.
