Poll: So where does VC/Sega go from here?

The way I see it, there are really only 4 options for the former NFL Franchise.

1. Quit the pro football scene.

2. Pursue another "professional" football license (Canadian or Arena Football League)

3. Create a game with fake teams and players

4. Create a game around 1 player (ala Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball or Michael Jordan Baseball) where the one player is legit and everything else is bogus--i.e. the teams would be the city only and all players would be fake.

So here is a quick poll to see what you think. Maybe VC will even take a look. Even though I'd like to see #2 (some football is better than no football) I don't think it will happen. Plus they'll lose ESPN or it will truly suck (sort of like a college game where announcers know the common names and call everyone else by their number--where would all the graphics and cool SC sayings come from?). I think they will go with #1. But give me your take. And if I forgot something, go with "other".

Thanks guys.

Sorry to say that, but I think they are already packing their bags.

No real stadiums
+ No real team logos
+ No real jerseys
+ No real team names
+ No real players
+ No player pictures
----------------------
= out of business

I hope they continue to make 2K6 with a powerful editor. College Hoops had all the correct names for download within days of the release. Once you get 3 years into your franchise you are playing with new players anyway. The problem I see is allowing the announcers to say the names. If you cannot populate your database with the current players' names that will be trouble. Don't give up Sega.

I think it's 50/50 that they'll go with a College game or pursue an AFL license. I can see VC/Sega taking a year off to get their house in order.

SEGA either has the option of purchasing a license no one will play (AFL/CFL).

The option of not doing anything at all and therefore making no money.

Or making a game with fake players and teams that still has strong football gameplay. Yea they won't make top dollar, but if they still charge 20 bucks a copy (at least for the first year to see what the numbers are like) they can at least attract some buyers and make some sort of profit.

There is always someone out there that wants to edit the heck out of a game and thousands of people will benefit from that.

College Football. Who the hell watches AFL/CFL. If they did that they might as well make a WNBA game too.

Re: Poll: So where does VC/Sega go from here?

Well I see a couple options like u guys do. They could go out of business thats true. The other option and the one that is interesting to me is this. Just create an entirely new football experience. I read midway is going to do something with the playmakers series. Off field problems etc etc. Espn already has shown this year superior gameplay to madden. I think if they go deeper and not now are not cumbered by the NFL saying they don't want to be looked at negatively they can do alot with a game. Its easy enough to create fictional names that have the same attributes as real life NFL teams and players. Create some stadiums and make it an entirely new video game football experience. Your players have personalities you have off field issues. Along with the same ESPN presentation I think the game can be really really good. As someone said if you play 3 years of a franchise your playing with fictional characters anyways. I bought it this year to try it cuz it was 20 bucks and i was pleasantly surprised. I bought Madden too and I deem it unplayable it hasn't left its box. I will be disappointed if ESPN gives up. I for one will play the best game out there. Doesn't matter to me NFL license or if i'm playing with fictional characters. I've played games with fictional characters and made players in madden and ESPN and was just as engaged in the game. ESPN FOOTBALL 2k6 A whole new game of FOOTBALL
