EA explains ESPN DEAL

This thread is about EA buying ESPN. ESPN used to be with 2005 game of the year. I guess, that this is the reason its in the ESPN Football forum. I didnt want to put it in the Madden forum becuase it may start a flame war.

If you dont like it, dont read it and why would you post? Its cool.

Oh yeah, ESPN won either the Football game of the year or Sports game of the year from 4 respected gaming sites. So, we are talking about more than EA.

I know reading the first article from EA marketing director didnt make sense to me either. Stay on topic.

If I remember correctly, you were one of the first to post and gloat when the ESPN deal was announced. Don't think you should be commenting on how people should now "get past it". Perhaps spreading the news is a good thing, as there are plenty of people that don't see this deal in as favorable a light as you [apparently] do. And there are many more casual gamers that have no idea what's going on in sports gaming with this exclusivity mess started by EA. If the shoe was on the other foot, I'd expect Madden fans to be even MORE vocal.

In fact, the main thread here was started by vins, claiming HUGE news.

Being vocal is one thing. Posting about it every single day, focusing on nothing else, and ignoring Sega's offering is exactly what you're doing to HURT them.

But then again, I guess threads like this really get the news out that people should avoid this company.

Post 18. Guess I misinterpreted. But I'll leave that alone.

The ESPN deal just happened this week. Then we hear the news about TT/Microsoft/989 possibly making a deal with MLB for their license. To me, these are HUGE issues that are changing sports videogames as we know it. To sit back and give the impression that it doesn't matter, or that people are ambivelent towards the issue does a disservice to ourselves and VC. Secondly, would anyone be suprised if VC doesn't come out with a football game this year? I sincerely hope they do, because their engine stomps Madden. But could they be faulted if they don't fight the huge uphill battle? Did anyone forsee Microsoft and 989 bowing out when they did? I knew NOTHING of Inside Drive until I read so much about it in the NBA2k5 forum. AFTER it had been cancelled. If I had known all that in the past, I would've been more open to purchasing it.

We don't even know for sure that they are going to release a football game, and if they do if it'll be college or pro. And as we a lot of us have, we've given suggestions and support on what they could do with the game. But people are talking about the EA stuff because they see it's an important issue; one that shouldn't be swept under the rug for the sake of giving a break to those that see this purely from the business point of view.

Again, what does you learning about NBA ID in the NBA 2k forum have to do with THIS topic? (Side note: I have no idea how you could not know about that series. Unless you're a PS2 only guy, there is just no excuse if you're into sports gaming not knowing your options.) Sure, there is going to be overlap of Madden and ESPN... but this forum FWIW might as well be called the EA forum with all the topics of EA here. Hell, I'm willing to bet that there are MORE topics about EA here than in the MADDEN forum...

If I put it in the Madden forum it might be a flame war. Then some would say, put in the ESPN. If you dont like it, dont read it and dont respond. We have administratorthat can lock it up but that is their jobs. This had an impact on ESPN football that is why it is in here.

It would also help if peope would on topic of this thread.
