Can someone help me figure out Contracts

Oh I'm so lost. I got some pre-season moves I want to make but I cant figure out the contract structure for nothing. What the hell is back loading and front loading, acsending, yada, yada? If someone can point me in the right direction or even pull out the official NFL rulebook, I'll appreciate it. I also did a search but nothing really came up that was recent.

Each of those contract types are just as they sound.
Backloading, for example, will pay the player more of the guaranteed money later in the contract. Frontloading, will inversely pay them more at the start of the contract, leaving you with that player signed a couple years down the road but having more cap room at that time since more of his money will have been paid in the early years.
I think it shows how the money will break down per season anyways, when you select a contract value/length/type.

All of those options allow you to manipulate your cap space. It's kind of complicated, but for us who grew up with text based games, that type of contract flexibility adds practically another whole game just into the contract portion of the game. It's one really nice part I love about the game.

when it say's front loading, acsending, desending, back loading, Thats what it mean, you have a choice on how you want to pay the player, more monet in the beging(front load) less money in the begining of the contract and pay him a lot more at the end(back loading), I mean it pretty much simple like that

Yeah, take a look at the little screen in the bottom left that breaks down the salary he will receive in year 1, year 2, year 3, etc of his contract. I usually just pay them a balanced salary(same amount of money every year), because it doesn't put me in any immediate or eventual cap hell.

Re: Can someone help me figure out Contracts

Thanks alot guys. I kinda had to restart a season because I pretty much jagged my salary cap. I could'nt afford to re-sign a few of my top players because other regulars wanted more money. I was the Eagles so you can imagine the headache I had. I ended up starting the next season with only 47 players and only a few hundred thousand to spend for free agents. I knew I could'nt do it so I'm just gonna start a new season with a diffrent team.

I was thrown off by the numerous options you had to sign or resign players with. Whenever I tinkered with they're contracts, away from what they demanded, they're interest kept going down unless I gave them more money. In the end, it was'nt looking good. Even the rooks I signed were demanding craploads of money. Then if you wanted to cut some players for cap room, the penalty ended up costing more than the contract itself. I think I made 1 mistake and it all went downhill from there. Defetnitely gotta remember to save before I enter the off season.
