Signs of doom? You're reading WAY too much into what I'm saying. I don't think EA thought Madden would be doomed, but I do think that they saw a copetitor that was getting ever closer in their rear-view mirror. They used the exclusive deal as a way to eliminate any potential threat to their title as the NFL football king.

They also dropped the price on 2005 in response to 2k5 selling for $20, and selling well. It took them much longer to drop the price of 2006 than 2005. Coincidence that they did not have any dircet compeition?

Thanks for making me laugh yet again. So according to this EA guy, the exclusive deal allowed them to add specific defensive playbooks. I wonder how in the world 2K5 managed to have this 2 years ago without an exclusive deal?

Any article from IGN on EA should be taken with a grain of salt. Most people see IGN as little more than a marketing outlet for EA.
