It appears there will be a "Professional Football League" coming....2K Sports Surprise #1 and #2

Oops, someone beat me to it...and it is still just "hypothetical", although this is a lot of smoke to be blowing if they aren't coming out with a game

Suprise #2 is there is going to be a team from Birmingham.

How is it dumb? They are pretty much announcing a new game. Having nfl2k5 backwards compatible would've been a dumb surprise.
