PS2 servers down XBOX up!

I'll take a less conspiratorial guess. The XBOX servers are run completely on XBOX Live. That means that 2K doesn't have to have their own servers running for that purpose. If you remember, the PS2 servers were run on ESPN Videogames. I'm guessing the name of the server was the reason that ESPN cracked down.

This could be a valid reason, but are even the XBOX Leagues run on the Live servers? 2K doesn't have to supply its own server for the leagues to operate?

If that's so, then I think that it's either the server name or the cost of running PS2 that is the reason why.

It's definitely true that PS2 servers have to be run by the companies making the game while XBOX servers are centralized through XBOX Live. But you're probably right that it could be either the name or the expense (both things the XBOX doesn't have a problem with).
