PS3 Compatibility Issue for 2k5

Thanks for the added info, guys. The firmware update must have made a difference, because I've been playing the last couple of days and have been pretty impressed with how the game looks at 720p.

One quick question for you guys: what is "progressive scan," and how does it impact the graphics of a game? I've seen this option on my PS3 setup screen, but I've never turned it on because I get a warning screen on the options menu that says if my tv doesn't support it, then I may do permanent damage to the tv. For fear of the apocalypse, I just left it alone. I do have an HDTV though, so it may work. Any thoughts?

If you go to "options" then "presentation" it's the last switch at the bottom... the (2K5) game has it's own progressive scan mode... up until this spring I never had reason to use it.... but even still, before the PS3 (1.8) update the mode didn't seem to make a diff. being that my new TV is 1080P.... However, try it as see what you think....

Thanks, xrams. I am pretty happy with how things look now, so I don't think I'll need to mess with it if the difference between having it on and off isn't staggering. I appreciate the feedback.

ESPN NFL 2k5 (and all the other 2k games I own, which is quite the collection) all work fine on my PS3, except for one thing - the highlight features (like Berman's halftime/postgame reports) that you needed the PS2 HDD for don't work. Has anyone figured out if it's possible to make those work on the PS3?

I just played through an exhibition game yesterday, bcruise, and it looked like the halftime report feature was working fine. I x-ed through it, but I'll try to play another game in the next day or so to see if it works from start to finish. Other than that, I haven't had any problems running the game.

Yes: You need to download the PS2 HDD add-on in the Playstation game store. It allows PS2 games to view and utilize the PS3 HD as if it were the PS2 HD.

@ Trojan and Pared:

Yes, I've known about the PS2 System Data download - it was one of the first things I downloaded and installed when I went online with the PS3. And just to be safe, I re-downloaded and installed it when the 1.80 firmware came out, but it still doesn't recognize it.

I should probably clarify - when I say the halftime report isn't working, I mean the video highlights - as with my HDD-less PS2, all I get are two screenshots of the play.

For that matter, I see no way to access the HD for custom stadium music, either...I must be missing something if it's working for you guys.
