Re: Should QB pass arm strength be raised?
ya my QBs are a little juiced compared to the default rosters
edit: independent of their ability to play the position, there do seem to be a higher than normal amount of QBs in the NFL right now w/ very strong arms. I dont know if it's nutrition, supplements, training regiments or the same things that have made players bigger but it definitely feels like the numbers have risen.
Incomplete off the top of my head & in no particular order I think of:
-JP Losman; just threw a ball 70 yds in the air a few nights back
-Lorenzen
-Leftwich
-Boller
-Culpepper (if he can plant & pivot again)
-Palmer
-Grossman
-Mannings
-Brady
-McNabb
-Garrard
-Vick.. could
-Favre (squared up--not across his body-- he can still zip it)
-McNair (see above)
-JaMarcus Russell
-Jason Campbell
-Roethlisberger
-Kerry Collins
-Even VY throws it far/hard despite weird mechanic
-Bledsoe last year could still absolutely gun the ball off a 3-step drop
And while other vets have lost a lot in that dept down the stretch of their careers: Vinny, Brad Johnson, Holcomb, Brunell... there are other guys who get labeled "rag arm" (& maybe dont have the best ball speed), but can still throw a nice arching deep pass just fine: Brees, Hasselbeck, Pennington, Garcia (I promise you will hear Madden/Michaels talk about Pennington/Garcia's "weak arms" right before they throw a 35 yd zipper. It never fails). Remember, Brady's first year it was trendy to say "he has poor arm strength & can't throw long w/ accuracy."
....Not that arm strength is important compared to accuracy anyway (see Joe Montana)
