I am trying to remember, does this game offer in game saves?

What exactly do you mean by "in-game"? Do you mean save the game mid-game? No, you cannot. If you mean something else - can you be more specific? *although I don't care about post counts, for some reason something caught my eye - so I looked. We both have exactly the same post count at this moment.

He means that if you finish the first half for example, if it's possible to save your progress and then continue where you left off later on.

The answer is no. Sadly, in-game saves is one of the few features that I wish was in 2K5. Oh well.

Every football game should have this, it's actually something Madden has done right. Although the last time I knew they had it in was 2005 I believe, I have no clue about later versions.

Yeah, this should be in every sports game, period. It's not exactly a hard thing to put in.

It has done it right only for old generation unfortunately....

The only nex-gen sports game ive seen it in so far is MLB 2K8. If it werent for that feature i coulnt play baseball games because they are to long.
