Can someone please answer this

I recently got a transfer cable for my xbox360 but i'm having trouble using the files after i transfer them i keep getting a messege that says can't copy between profiles is there a way around this?

you need a dummy profile with the file, then you copy both to harddrive, then you load game and load roster from dummy profile, use your real profile and save roster, and delete dummy profile
