If you purchase a transfer cable and it comes with software do you still need to download xport360/xplorer360?

Are the graphics better with the 360 or do they look the same as the orig xbox. I'm considering buying xbox1 or 360. I dont really play any other games other than 2k5.

Can you use a Mac running the parallels program to download rosters to your xbox 360? I already have the transfer cable and I have Windows XP and the parallels program coming. I apologize if this question has already been addressed.
