After a season in franchise when the players stats change is this just random or based on the performance he gave? I only got I think 700 yards all season with Frank Gore and then he went from a 86 overall to a 97 overall while Terrell Owens went down about 15 points. So what determines these stat changes?

By stat changes I assume you mean the player ratings. If so, the only thing I have been able to gather from various forums is that the players' ratings progress is preset by the game's AI. Players may improve no matter how good or bad they played the previous year.
