I was/am facing this with my 1987 rosters. I decided to just drop/add and create those players I needed. It takes forever just to determine who is where, even before you make the rest of them.

I do have the added problem of sorting through the scabs that played for 3 games.

Why not just play single seasons and load the roster from each year?

I could do that. But I also thought about editing the incoming rookie class to real players that year. So maybe Marino would go to the Colts instead and my franchise would start off like real life, but in the later years, it is what could have happened in real life. Gives a little spooky feel... Just thinking about playing this game and seeing real players go to a team they might have had a rivalry with IRL, but in game they are just starting their careers. It would be cool to see a Marino or Montana develop and take over the league.
