Yeah someone asked Greg Thomas in an interview was VC ever going to put in a button to strafe after finding out Madden2003 was going to have it and he answered 2K2 already has it.

Sorry guys, but I'm going to call you on this one. Just out of curiousity I booted up my copy of 2k3, went to the practice field and tried this out. Sure enough, now my db's can backpeddle. But I don't believe it's accurate to call this a strafe move. While I was able to get my players to backpeddle, their lateral(sideline to sideline)movement is a sort of slow crabwalk, not the sideways shuffle you have in Madden. EA's strafe move is far more effective than the move in Sega's title(in fact, imo the Madden strafe is essential to effectively playing LB in Madden/NCAA).

As for the assertion that "maddenites will argue they had it first", how can you really blame them when Sega apparently didn't bother to tell anyone about this? I have looked in both the booklet that came with 2k3, and in the updated manual that I downloaded from Sega's site, and I can't find any reference to this technique anywhere. I'd be interested to know how those of you who already knew about this learned the secret(was it mentioned in earlier 2k manuals? Or maybe just by accident?).

Whichever button is on the left (fr black and white) is the strafe button for Xbox.

The Xbox 2 controller NEEDS to have two trigger buttons AND two shoulder buttons... the black and white buttons could be useful extras, but they're no good for key moves.
