So no way to get roster updates with 360 SLIM?

Other than getting another hard drive and doing some modifications to my slim console?

I was ready to order my cable and anything else I needed to do the transfers and get to downloading the rosters tonight after I popped in 2K5 for the first time in years only to have my hopes and dreams dashed when I read it can't be done with the Slim. At least not the regular way.

So, is this true? I might just get an original xbox on ebay.
