Re: Wide Screen on a regular TV?

That would be a great option. NFL QBC had something like this where you could actually stretch and shrink your image area to fit your specific screen.

By the way, for the poster who said that the black bars are 'added'. This is not the case. The black bars are not bars at all, but rather just a portion of the screen that does not have data to be displayed. Think about when you go to the movie theater and watch a movie in widescreen. (Or 'scope' as the industry used to call it.) There is a black masking material on the bottom of the screen and the top of the screen. It is a non-reflective surface so the image has a nice, crisp frame all around. The movie is not made to show a large overlap on these masked areas, with the intention of not being able to see them. Same with a widescreen presentation on a regular TV. The black bars at the top and bottom are not hiding a portion of the top and bottom of the movie. They are there because there is no data being received for that portion of the screen.

Another way to think of it: Take a piece of paper that is 3" x 3". Now take another one that is 3" x 2". Center the rectangular paper on top of the square one. Notice that there a gap on the top and bottom showing on the square paper. You are not hiding any portion of the rectangle paper right? It is all there. There is simply not enough paper to fill the extra space of the square paper. The square paper represents your standard TV screen. The rectangle represents the widescreen movie.

It seems to me that NFL2kx should be able to display a widescreen presentation on a standard TV. I too would love to see sideline to sideline at all times during gameplay. For those who truly understand the physics of it, the black bars represent as much of an annoyance as the frame on your car's windshield.

Yeah, I understand that there's no actual picture missing in those bars.

It doesn't work changing the Xbox settings to widescreen as this just distorts the picture, although it did make the Madden models look a little taller.

Thanks for all the help guy, now I'll just hope it's something they will add or have added to the game for 2k4.
