Sega\'s strategy worked wanders.

I tried 2k2 and was turned off by the game for some reason, probably because I was just used to Madden so much. Well when the price dropped on 2k3 I figured I couldn't lose for $10. So I picked the game up earlier in the year and after really trying to get into it, I think I like it better than Madden.

Good move by Sega to lower the price to get people to try the game.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I think that's how our natural ESPN Football source Kanobi switched from being a Maddenite also!

Ummmmm yeah, I'd hate to burst your bubble but the only reason why it was $10 is because NOBODY BOUGHT IT!

LOl! Thats correct. Like Grism, I used to be a MaddenFan. But the gameplay got old...especially after working on my slider matrix.

Back in april, I heard NFl2k3 was on sale at Target for 10 bucks..I figured what the hell...its 10 bucks... a win/win. Brought it home ...popped it in my ps2. And as they say...the rest is history.

I agree with grism. The nfl2k3 deal for 10 bucks was an excellent strategy by SEGA/VC. Equally brilliant is the sept 4th (maybe 2nd) release date.

So are you going to do sliders for ESPN Kanobi?

All this time I figured it was Econ 101... supply vastly outstripping demand = early bargain bin. Instead, it was excellent Sega strategy.

I'd hate to see bad Sega strategy, if that were the case.

Well, I doubt ESPN will NEED sliders as desperately as Madden needed (and still needs) them. I have to see how the default settings work first.

True. It was likely a good mix of both. Either way....it worked.
