Re: Slightly OT: xbox and 720p

Yeah, My TV only runs 480p or 1080i so when I watch say ESPNHD which is 720p my tuner upcoverts to 1080i so my TV can display it. My old TV which was HDTV-ready could do 480p by itself but I would have needed a tuner for 1080i. If your TV can't display 720p it won't even with a HDTV-tuner but probably will upcovert to 1080i but make sure the tuner can upconvert because I'm not sure if all HD tuners do that.
By the way HDTV football is amazing, I watched the Cal-Southern Miss game on HDNET that was beautiful.

Re: Slightly OT: xbox and 720p

My tv does not upconvert and it can't do 720p. However ny external tuner does upconvert 720o to 1080i and MNF looked great last week(first time I saw it in HD).

There is no way to hook my xbox up to my tuner directly. I have never heard of a converter that would take component connection and translate it to a digital coax signal.

Thats the tuner I have. It has digital audio out(composite), fiber optic audio out, composite out, s-video out and component out.. The only input is coax.

Re: Slightly OT: xbox and 720p

I just ordered a KD-XB vga adapter. it is supposed to display these modes on your cpu monitor. it may be an economical way for some. its not as large as a nice HDTV but a nice 20" monitor aint bad.im no experst on this stuff so i hope i have no problems with it. after furthe reading i see that some adapters dont display the boot up screen ect.
