A potentially serious, serious problem

I had been saying in the slider thread about the ease of the passing game in hopes that sliders could help this portion of the game. Well, I think we have a problem in that there is a major issue with defensive back AI in this game.

The problem:

Any flag route is a certified money play. It's open damn near every time.

How crazy is it?

I just finished the first half of the second game of my Browns franchise, playing in Baltimore.

Kelly Holcomb is 15/18 for 404 yards. At the half. Kevin Johnson has 12 catches for 299 yards. I ran the ball 1 time. The AI doesn't adapt to this "pass only" gameplan as KJ is open on any flag pattern that I call. It's not the same play--it's *any* flag route.

What is even more discouraging is that I am playing on All pro with the Human Pass and Catch sliders minimized and the CPU Coverage slider maxxed out at the right.

It doesn't help.

I realize that it's highly unrealistic to call the same pass route every down and I'd never do that in a real game, but when you know that you have a auto first down in your back pocket whenever you need one, man it takes the shine off of what is an otherwise spectacular game.

I'll go back to the slider drawing board and try to play on the highest difficulty level and hopefully that fixes it.

I haven't noticed but I will pay attention when I get home. I know I throught an INT yesterday on a flag route. When the D plays zone, it is much easier.

Ya know. I never expect the computer AI to be perfect. This is why I love head to head games. I only played one came in my franchise. All other games were online. I mean, thes games are hard fought chess matches. I havent ran into any cheesers. I ran into a few that tried. But it did not work. Like the 30 yard drop back... nothing positive happened when they do that. And the only QB I saw consistanly coplete passes off the back foot is Gannon. but I still managed to keep him under control. I'm sure someone will find some way to exploit the game.

There are a couple of plays that work well against the flags. But unfortunately the cpu doesnt use them. Try legend, I just know when I played Legend with the browns vs the bucs, I got KILLED LOL.

Is there a practice mode where you can select both the offense and defense plays? Surely there must be zones that handle it better.

Weren't you also saying that running stats are too high, Abner?
