Re: 1983 Browns Franchise Replay

You inspired me to start a 1983 franchise using my Oakland Raiders, so far 1-0. Beat up on the Jets in the first game, it was close in the first half but the Raiders D created several turnovers in the second half and ran away with the game.

SWEET... I am finishing up 1985 replay with awesome files and will be doing 1983 next. I am an old fart... lol I am a Miami fan and these were the teams of my youth :-) Other than a few seasons in the 90's 83-84-85 were the years that they actually competed for the AFC title.

Really like your files. I went 11-5 as the fins in 1984 and in 1985 I am 3-1.

Re: 1983 Browns Franchise Replay

If you do the 83 Dolphins, I think you should probably put in David Overstreet at HB1. I am a huge Tony Nathan fan, so I'm guessing that is why he is in that position.

BTW- I was on vacation for a week. I'll be back into the Browns' franchise this weekend.

Oakraider- you should run through the competition with the Raiders. They're pretty tough in this file.

Also, this just occurred to me: I deleted the settings tab in the 83 page, but never adjusted the "built in" settings in the file when I updated it. If you're going to play a season, I'd adjust them first to make them harder. If you want my recommended settings, use the settings from 1988. Those are my standard settings now.

WEEK 14

CLEVELAND BROWNS 13
DENVER BRONCOS 10

The Browns overcame 5 fumbles and an INT to hold off the Broncos 13-10. Matt Bahr missed 2 easy FGs, but the defense was reignited this week with the return of Clay Matthews, who had 2 sacks and a couple hurries.
Brian Sipe managed to complete an entire game for the first time since the beginning of the season. He was 23 of 39 for 281 yards. Ozzie Newsome, also back from injury, was the reception leader with 6 catches for 82 yards.

The win makes the Browns 10-4.

WEEK 15: CLEVELAND BROWNS 42 HOUSTON OILERS 10

It wasn't much of a game this week. Cleveland, starting QB Paul McDonald, drove right down the field on the first possession and scored right away. They never looked back. Rain kept the Oilers' passing game in check, while McDonald seemed to find guys all over the field.

Earl Campbell was kept under 100 yards rushing for the Oilers and the Broiwns' Dwight Walker, getting his first start at halfback, rushed for 60 and a TD.

THE DIVISION:

Browns 11-4 (clinched division title)
Bengals 9-6
Steelers 7-8
Oilers 4-11

THE POWER POLL TOP TEN:

1. Oakland Raiders 12-3
2. Miami Dolphins 11-4
3. Washington Redskins 10-5
4. San Fran 49ers 11-4
5. Cleveland Browns 11-4
6. Dallas Cowboys 10-5
7. Arizona Cardinals 10-5
8. Cincinnati Bengals 9-6
9. Kansas City Chiefs 10-5
10. Chicago Bears 9-6
