How Do You Stop The Run vs. another human

I use 5-2's and 4-3's. Line play is huge! If you think it's going to be a run up the gut, use a twist or a pinch on your DL. If you're worried about containment, use a fan. Keep the back to the inside if you're worried about breakaways. You can change the effect of your defense simply by varying the line play. Also, if you run a lot of man to man, you're hoping that 1 man will be able to track down and tackle the tailback. That's risky this year. I run some man defenses, but I tend to mix in a lot more zones, with corners covering the flats this year. If you can get 2 or 3 people around the anticipated run area, it doesn't matter much what he tries to do.

Guess wrong, of course, and you'll give up 80 in the blink of an eye.

If im getting killed by the run I do blitz. I'll run a bear or 4-3, pinch the DL, blitz one OLB from one side, move the FS to manually cover the other side. Therefore the inside and both outside lanes and covered. I stopped several 3rd and 4th downs online yesterday with only 1 yrd to go. The run game has stepped up a notch though in 2k4.

I was having problems stoping the run online... now i havent let a 100 yard rusher in my last 3 games.

Thanks alot for the information fellaz. I'm pumped now and can't wait to stop the run. This is gonna be off da hook because I know my neighbor won't have a clue.
