Guide to better Defense!
This post is created to help those people struggling with playing defense in this game. It definitely has a much higher learning curve than past football games, but can be a very rewarding experience. I've not only noticed my D getting better, but my rushing yards decline as others are learning as well.

Re: Defense Tips
oh goody
heres a tip use the strafe button when playing a linebacker its easy to use and it keeps you from overrunning the play....
only speed burst if the play is away from you i feel that your getting your linebacker tired when he's about to make the hit and gets easily shrugged off -

Re: Guide to better Defense!
I'll start if off with a few strategies I've installed that have really helped.
1. Pre-snap defensive adjustments. These are a must if you want to contain the big play. I ALWAYS slide my D-line to the strong side of the field. Well, unless it's third and long and there is a 4 or 5 WR set on the field.
2. STRAFE BUTTON! Learn it, love it, USE IT! Take control of a linebacker and after making those pre-snap adjustments put your right thumb on that black button and strafe. I tend to follow the flow of the play until I see where the RB is going and then I let go of the strafe and go get him!
3. I am giving up a key to my better D, but I play a lot of zone. You'll never see me blitz unless it's a definite long passing situation. Even then I never call an "all-out" blitz. Blitzing can definitely lead to the big play if the offense recognizes it.
4. If you are having problems stopping the slants, adjust your DB's to play inside. Problems with the corners, adjust them to play outside. Sounds like common sense, but I see a lot of people who never make these types of adjustments.
5. Mix up your Defensive line assignments. This will help you to get more pressure on the QB. Confuse the o-line by always mixing up your D-line method of attack.
Hope this helps and by all means, if you having anything else to add please do. Hopefully this will help many people out who are still struggling.Comment

Re: Guide to better Defense!
1. In passing situations always bring you D-Line close to eachother ( white button then down on R stick i think) you'll get a better pass rush. And then bring your DBs close to the line of scrimmage(especially man-toman coverage). This is basically bump and run and really helps out your D-Line even more
2. Also in passing situations, make sure before the game you go through the subs. and make sure you have your pass-rushers on the field to pressure the QB to make a bad throw.Comment
