Re: NFL2k: Your All-Time Favorite Year

Everyone keeps pumping up 2k1 as the best game in the series. I would have to agree with it until I actually put it back in my Dreamcast the other day...I can't play it anymore after ESPN. I played NCAA 2k2 for the DC which is very similar, and something just feels "weird" about both of them now (which I LOVED in the past).

One game I would still love to play again would be NBA 2k1...that was awesome!!

I think you would change your mind if NFL2k1 was recreated for the Xbox, keeping intact it's style, menus and features, but had the graphical and audio perks that the Xbox does better than Dreamcast. NFL2k1 is still my favorite. (Though I would not change NFL2k4's cutscenes and hot-routes for NOTHING!)

Re: NFL2k: Your All-Time Favorite Year

I'm just asking: What about 2k1 specificly make it the BEST of the 2k series???

Seems to me like a lot of nostalgia is going on. Personally, my favorite football games of all time were Tecmo Super Bowl, Madden NFL '94, and ESPN NFL Football 2004. Was Tecmo fun? Heck ya! But is it better than ESPN? NO!

Was 2k1 a fun game? Heck ya! But is it better (the best) than ESPN? NO!

Do you still play 2k1 regularly?

Fair question. Here is my answer.

It was the first sequel to an already mind-blowing NFL video game. It's 'style' comes from it's presentation, music, awesome voice actors for the commentary, visual rewards for winning playoff games, the most realistic animations of any NFL video game at the time, and most importantly, the introduction of Aim-N-Shoot (OTFPC) play calling–a feature that was in itself unique and more innovative than any other play calling menu to date. NFL2k1 treated gamer's Franchises like they were on a REAL road to a REAL Super Bowl. Teams that you played along the way were unique. A scrambling QB was hard to tackle. A bruising back was hard to bring down. A passing offense went to the air quite frequently and a kick-*** defensive opponent was sure to keep the score low. In other words no two teams played alike. NFL2k1 was the best title of this series.
