I finally FIGURED IT OUT

One thing that definitely lends to ESPN football players' flat chests is the fact that although the uniforms have wrinkles, THE NUMBERS ON THE CHEST DON'T HAVE THE WRINKLES GOING THROUGH THEM.

It's like the numbers are pasted on top of the wrinkles. The numbers on the chest don't bend and conform to the curvature of the players body, including the wrinkles. And even if the numbers do bend a bit, there are no wrinkle lines through them.

Just a couple of pixels here and there would make a WORLD of difference although it wouldn't completely solve the problem.

No.. it is that the players just and stomachs are just flat as cardboard. Nothing to do with the wrinkles.

Re: I finally FIGURED IT OUT

Yeah, yeah, I know, I know, guys!

But the numbers still are overtop of the wrinkles. There are no shadows from the wrinkles that extend THROUGH the numbers.

I didn't say that that's the ONLY problem. But adding this will help sell the illusion of three-dimensional figures.

Look at all the wrinkles and shadows surrounding the numbers on T.O's chest. None of them extend through the numbers.

Plus look at #25 for the giants. The numbers only serve to HIGHLIGHT the flatness of his chest. If they just added a few pixels to show the edges of the 25 curving around more, then they could sell the illusion on depth better.

Granted, the bottom part (the foot) of the #1 on #41 of the Giants is bent, but the shadow from the wrinkle is not there. Shadows = depth. Depth = illusion of 3-D.

Again, all it could do is add to overall look of the game. Just look at the chest numbers on Madden. They curve.

It's a beautiful screen... But do you see what I'm talking about atleast? That the wrinkles don't do through the numbers?
