Does It Cost Money to Play ESPN and Other Games Online?

I'm new to getting into this obviously...

First thing first...I need to buy the network adaptor correct? That's about $40?

Then, what do I do, just connect it to a phone line and I'm golden or something? Is it more complex than that?

Lastly, when things are hooked up, is it as easy as turning on the game and finding people to play with? Does it cost money--like a service per month to play online?

Any other info would be great!

Thanks.

when you say adapter...i assume you have ps2

you grap a adapter hook it to the PS...then plug the phone line...but if you are serious gamer...you gotta get broadband...from what i hear 56k may lag

as of now...you dont pay to play games...unless it is some MRPG or something to that effect...you just pay for the online service which is the ps2 adapter

Explain the Xbox Live concept of it, jordan. I have broadband.. I'm pretty sure I'll need a router. How much is service and crap?

Fly I just got XBL a couple of weeks ago. Its $70 for the XBL starter kit which comes with free 12 months. I also got a router so I wouldnt have to unplug the cable modem each time I wanted to play. Its pretty simple to set up, although I was having problems, but im a moron so it comes with the package.

If you have a broadband connection and a Xbox after getting the starter kit you don't pay to play most of the games on XBL. You have some downloadable content that may require you to purchase it but most game are free. The only game I have thats pay to play is Phantasy Star Online episode 1&2.

since the adapter is already in the xbox all you have to buy is a starter kit...i wont give pricing cause...you can find it for the amount you want you just gotta shop around

after you get xbox live...set up your account get as/n...and your good to go

direct connection is probably best...but if your tv and cpu arent close...or you still wanna use the 'net you gotta get that router stuff

i dont really care for a router anyway...when i wanna game online...thats all i wanna do...so who cares if i can still surf the net...just plug the ethernet cord in the back of a xbox and your good to go
