This wouldn't be that smart. ESPN is already not doing too hot in sells so by lowering the price, VC gets less money if they drop the price.

Lower price most often equals higher sales. This balances out and outweights higher price with fewer sales. I was gonna get it regardless but let's say I was on the fence as to which one to get. I see ESPN for 40 bucks compared that other game's 50 and I'm going with the cheaper buy. If I smoked weed, I could take that extra 10 and by a dime bag, get high and play. See how it all works out for the better?

I didn't know that these were the same guys from the Grand Theft game. Everybody and their momma knows about Grand Theft either from playing it or word of mouth. This is an excellent move for VC. A great game in itself will now have outstanding advertising.

i see your point, but more money/people don't necessarily make a better game (see madden)...i think a lot of folks want espn to outsell madden because of the underdog factor...but once espn is on top for a number of years, the pendulum will swing the other way....ebb and flow.

Lower pricing can also sometimes backfire. Some consumers will look at two similar products and view the higher priced one as higher quality. It is in fact a marketing strategy at times to raise the price of a product to make the consumer feel they are getting the highest quality product. Sometimes to people value=cheap=inferior. Just a thought.

I love ESPN and would like to see VC rewarded for its fine efforts, but I for one won't be complaining if it's released at the $39.99 price point..

I won't be complaining either, but Jistic threw out another good reason of why this might not be the best idea.
