Here is the one thing I feel is missing..................

I love this game. Graphics and animations look mind-boggling. The one thing I feel is missing (which I brought up in a similar fashion last year with 2K4) is this: ATMOSPHERE. Here is what I mean:

I want to feel the game, the emotion when I'm playing. You hear the grunts at the snap of the ball, the smash mouth sounds when tackles are made etc., all great, but what is missing is this. Take the gamespot videos with the long Tyrone Wheatly touchdown run and the Philip Buchanon punt return for a touchdown. I want the crowd to go into a frenzy when Wheatly breaks that last tackle at about the 30 yard line and everyone and their mothers knew he was home free. I don't want to hear utter silence only to hear the crowd roar when he crosses the goal line. Same with the Buchanon play, you could feel something was happening the second he broke it to the outside and started heading north up the sideline. That's when the crowd should have gone wild, not silence until he crossed the goal line. Fans are smart, they know when to started going nuts. I don't feel any videogame (especially football) has mastered this yet.

When an offense runs a screen play, and 3 offensive lineman in effect let the defensive players through I want the crowd to go nuts thinking a massive quarterback pancake is about to happen only to groan in disbelief when he dumps it off to a running back who scampers 50 yds to paydirt. Likewise I want a crowd to go nuts as a guy is heading for paydirt and then groan miserably when he is caught from behind by a fleet-footed CB.

Am I making sense?? This to me is atmosphere.

I know what you mean. In football especially, fans cheer not only after the score, but as soon as the possibility for a score opens up. What about NCAA though? I thought they did a pretty good job with this last year, as the crowd and commentators got amped as soon as you broke free.

Totally agree. I can imagine that sort of AI will have to wait for ( I hate to say it ) "Next-Gen Consoles"

I agree, NCAA has done a much better job than Madden or ESPN in this department.

Pro games always seem to have poor atmosphere. Hopefully ESPN can add some worth of decent crowd logic.

i think its really sort of cool that they actually had a programmer take the time to program bouncing hooters....i mean now thats some detail - i mean you see that and you think WOW if theyve got bouncing boobs this game has got to rock - i dont think madden and i knwo for sure NCAA doesnt have this

In game custom soundtrack will make the atmosphere feel better for me.
