what im getting at is the whole casual gamer thing is stupid...we are in 2004...magzines websites tv channels...there is nothing casual about videogames...its a lifestyle for many
imo...everyone who plays sports videogames know who and what madden is and what espn is, along with the other brands...the fact is simple that majority feel that madden is the best...the goal is for VC to make games that tell them otherwise...
another thing...how many parents still buy games for their children...c'mon with that nonsense...what are 9 yr olds doing playing complicated sports games anyway...arent they playing the 'backyard' versions that are out now
to sum it up, give people more credit when it comes to games...also get rid of the whole casual non sense
that's a very closed minded opinion. there is a HUGE range of gamers out there. some love games enough to go all over the net or at least check out magazines and others buy the upgrade of the game they like every year until that game doesn't feel good to them. then there is the majority of casual gamers who get a game to just play when they have friends over. they will go with (as you said) the hot game which in this case is madden. even if they knew of the 2k series most of these people still don't know it's the same as espn. games don't control their lives. they buy a new one when they see the commercials and won't spend time doing a bunch of research.
and the times haven't changed, parents still buy kids games ALL THE TIME. last i checked the jobs you can get in HS don't really pay the rent and there are still many kids that don't work until after college. even if they have a few bucks to get their own games they may opt to push for the game for a birthday or christmas in which case the parent, aunt, whatever would buy it and wrap it rather than giving them the money or going with them to the store.
