Will ESPN\'s Dropback Hinder Me THAT Much?

I know that ESPN does an automatic dropback for QBs, but I've been playing Madden longer than I have ESPN (only played 2K3) but even in Madden (and NCAA) I counted the steps that I needed to dropback for the QB in my head (3 or 5, duh ), so will this have a huge effect of how I'll perform in ESPN?

I prefer to let the AI drop back, that way I know when I am supposed to throw the ball...in fact I found passing much easier and rewarding experience when I play this way...Read the D, drop back 5 steps, plant...throw the post. 1st Down.

Not saying that happens every pass, but it fells good to pass the "correct" way. This is especially true on Play Action Roll out type pass plays, the AI will do it perfectly every time.

Re: Will ESPN\'s Dropback Hinder Me THAT Much?

you can still perform you own dropback. But for me i'd rather let the CPU do it as I read the defense. For a QB a 5 step or whatever step drop is automatic, they dont look down at their feet to see how many steps they've taken, they are making their reads. Muscle memory basically takes over.

It won't affect you too much, but if you use the cpu drops, you will be more effective and efficient.

I keep telling this to my friends, and they just won't listen... it's really no wonder they dislike ESPN so much because, as some have said, try to play it as if it were Madden when in fact you are punished if playing like Madden means playing unrealistically.

In reference to the original poster's question, let the CPU do the dropback for you; one less thing to worry about while you scan for an open receiver and keep a gauge on pocket time.
