IF they are under contract doesn't that mean that they can't be cut? And even so, they would still get the money right???

No and no.

Welcome to the NFL.

Players can be cut at the employer's discretion. And when cut, they are not owed the full amount of the salary.

right, NFL contracts are not guaranteed. The NBA and MLB need this kinda hard cap though I wish the NFL had like a luxury tax like the NBA.

Thanks guys for the answers...but when you say that the NBA needs this, I was thinking...Is this how Jayson Williams formerly of the NETS and now in legal troubles, is still making mucho dinero? He quit basketball, but still lived in a mansion because of his lucrative contract with the NETS organization?

well he could have done well with his money while he was playing and was an analyst on tv. I don't think that you still get paid if you retire.
