Maybe I'm crazy but I thought that Madden made great improvements from '03 to '04. You gotta look under the hood though. I bought 2003 and sold it about a week later. I completely hated the gameplay. I wasn't even interested in 2004 but I won it by winning an NCAA tournament at my local gamestop last year. I figured I'd just sim seasons to import my draft classes.

Well then I realized that All-Madden was actually playable and not a speed cheat for the first time probably ever. With lots of slider tweaks I got it playing beautifully. The stats I got were near perfect and against the CPU there was no cheesing. Coupled with a dead solid franchise mode it was a VERY good game.

If you're tired of it, by all means switch, you're free to do so. Just don't rule out the possibilty that you may end up picking it up again a few weeks after release date.

Why do some of you act so clueless as to what the situation is? For years now EA Sports has run a marketing hype machine called 'Madden'. The past few years it's reached a point where nothing can pierce the shrill hype that emerges surrounding the new Madden game. Opinions are just that, opinions. However, year after year it's like the gaming press is reading from an EA Press release. "Madden is the top of the genre, NFL2K is close but needs more work". Madden has been the annointed franchise, and most refuse to see anything other than Madden...no matter how good the other product. Hardcore gamers need to realize that the mass market gamers think differently than we do. They DO place great emphasis on reviews, and TV commercials. They are sheep and will go where they are led. As a result, the Madden franchise does'nt advance as much as it should year to year. They coast. That mindset seems to finally be crumbling, and that is what people are excited about. The fact that some other voices are finally being able to be heard over the EA Hype machine. The people who have played both Madden and NFL2k over the years and feel that VC's game is leagues better are just excited at the propest of the NFL2K series getting some well deserved attention.

It's neat to see these "conversion posts" pop up from time to time. I don't see it as a conversion, but rather as an excitement for a new game. I'm sure you all would do the same if a new developer came out with a game that's better than ESPN.

Hopefully Madden players will give ESPN a chance like I did in the 2k days for the Dreamcast. At least try it and pick the one that you like best.

EA needs to get rid of Tiburn, IMO. They haven't shown me anything in 5 years.
