ESPN and XBL

I'm gonna get ESPN this week and I've never used XBL before, even though I have a couple of those trial cards. My problem is, when I went to try the trial, it still wanted a credit card #. I don't have a credit card to put in and I don't want to have the hassle of putting one in and then cancelling later. Is there any way to sign up w/o putting in a CC# and just use my trial? I want to get involved in some of the leagues.

You won't get charged as long as you cancel the subsription before your two month trial is up.

so do you think I'd be missing out on a lot if i didn't get XBL for this game?
