On obvious passing downs I had a lot of fun playing a DE rushing the passer in 2K4. This was too easy in 2K4. They have made it more difficult in 2K5 but they also changed the controls so to speak. The L1 button on the PS2 is the club or swim (can't remember) and its also the jump button (same as 2K4 as well). To use it as a DE in 2K5 though, you must be completely engaged with the OT and the QB not throwing. I use to like to use an outside move on a rush to get to the QB but in 2K5 my DE just jumps up and down. Its frustrating when it was a lot better in 2K4. It seems like almost every move other than the spin (R2) will direct you back inside. It used to be much easier to control what you wanted to do in 2K4 as a DL regardless of the results. Anybody else notice this isn't as good as 2K4?

Re: Pass Rushing as DE
Well...the only thing I can say is addressing your concern of always moving to the inside.
I have the xbox version, but I would assume this remains true. If you're using a move for a DE, whether it be a swim or a spin move, whatever direction you are pressing when you do the move is the direction your DE is going to try and pursue.
So, say I wanna try spinning off of the OL and heading outside. Well, as soon as I make contact, I hit the black button (spin button) and press my left analog stick to the right, thus making me DE spin off the OL to the outside.
This is in the training area as a little side note as well.
Hope that helps. -

You're not the only one. I kept wondering why my DTs were jumping when I was trying to do the defensive lineman move.Comment
