Getting Surround Sound to work well with ESPN 2k5
All day today I have been doing speaker and reciever investigation on how I can get the Surround Sound to work really well with ESPN 2k5.
1. Make sure you have some good speakers 5 of them to be exact. Sonys are the best in my book
2. A good reciever helps a lot. Yamaha is the best in my book
3. Subwoofer. Buy anybody that can do a lot of bass.
First make sure your reciever can do a Matrix 6.1 Sound Field. If not Discrete will work fine too. Next switch your modes to a Matrix 6.1 mode like Dolby Digital EX. Next make sure to pick a high mode of sound like Enhanced, or Super. Turn up the volume and watch the demo play. If you have a good subwoofer then pump that thing up to its highest magnatude. In your setup for your reciever make sure you set the roomsize to 1.0 if you have a small room (like a bedroom or a 3rd car garage size). If you are using a huge room (2 door garage types) then set the size up to 1.3 but don't go over unless your Audio Station looks like the Good Guys store. Next just listen and watch. ESPN becomes 10x better then before. As an added note do not set your Main L/R speakers to -10 dB as it will only lower the volume and the effects are not as loud and surround as they can be then. Be also a good idea to set up your subwoofer with a -6 dB setting. Its differnet in every reciever, but in mine its in the HP Control.
My Test
---------
Speakers: Sony (forgot the model number) with Subwoofer
Reciever: Yamaha HTR 5590
