Franchise Freeze Dissapointment

I’ve had a grand time playing through my franchise’s first season in NFL 2K5. As a longtime fan of the 2K series, the game has not only lived up to my expectations, but also exceeded them.
That is, until I got to the playoffs. After winning the AFC title game, the computer now keeps freezing each time it tries to simulate the NFC title game. I’ve tried changing the audio settings, going back to default settings and deleting the old settings file. Even tried a friends NFL 2K5 disc….. No luck.
Is there anything I can do? I would like to go on to the Super Bowl, but without a remedy, this makes me want to let the game pick up dust on the shelf.

you might not want to hear this suggestion, but i had a similar problem, but my game would freeze at the draft. so i deleted everything that had to do with the game, and started a new season. it works fine now.
